What is meditation?

Don’t approach meditation like it’s the next thing to be conquered (that’s actually the complete opposite of the concept!); it’s a tool, a way of life, a way of being that is about learning to be present, in the now and accepting what is at that exact moment in time.

My advice when first starting/ learning to meditate, is to approach it rather as mindfulness, a consciousness of being aware of yourself, your thoughts, of everything that is happening around you, the sounds, the smells, the sights, and not being lost in your mind.

As you train your mind to be aware, so the actual practice of meditating will not feel so foreign and in time (with constant practice) become as natural as your heart beating.

Shower Meditation
1.     Close your eyes, long deep breaths in and out
2.     Standing under the water, aware to the feeling of the water on your skin
3.     Visualize the water ‘washing away’ unwanted negative emotions
4.     Imagine the negative emotions washing off your body and going down the drain
5.     Full awareness on this and nothing else
