You are your own creator

What you think, speak, write, communicate….. you create.

As we go about our busy lives, we are continuously assailed by a stream of unconscious thoughts from our minds that are shaping our future… a scary realization if you are going about your day bemoaning your life, complaining continuously, judging those around you, losing your temper, finding fault …. because it simply means that tomorrow you’ll experience more of the same – or to put it simply, exactly what you created.

The good news is, though it may be difficult at first to stop a mind that has run on auto-pilot for most of your life, by simply recognizing or noticing that your mind is on automatic, is a move in the right direction.

The “gap” is where the light gets in…. and more and more gaps lead to more and more light and clarity being shone on the darkness that is a mind permitted to run amok sourcing information from passed experiences and essentially “lying” to you.

 So what comes next?

  1. We recognize the incessant chatter (an enlightening moment for many!)

  2. We find the “pause” (it may even be a second to start with) and with it the total liberation in the sweet stillness of the quiet mind aka the peace….

  3. We begin to monitor our thoughts and the critical voice that is often very loud and relentless when we are stressed or facing a challenging situation.

  4. We consciously begin to stop the thoughts, replacing them with positive words or thinking of something that brings feelings of love, happiness or gratitude. It can be a loved one, a good memory, a pet – anything that warms your heart and makes you feel good.

  5. Then we create an affirmation, a sentence beginning with “I am ….” that paints a picture in our minds of how we want our lives/ our future to be.

  6. We repeat this affirmation throughout the day – place sticky notes or dots around the house (on the mirror, in your car, on the fridge, on your phone!), and repeat your affirmation each time you see them.

  7. But here’s the trick, mindlessly repeating the words is not enough, you have to paint a picture in your mind and feel the feeling of your affirmation’s intention. For example if your affirmation is “I am beautiful, strong and successful” see yourself as this version of yourself, imagine how it feels to be that version of yourself and what beauty, strength and success look like and feel like.

  8. Repeat your affirmation daily and even better write it in your journal daily too.

  9. What you think, you create, you become.
