5 small steps that make a big difference to leading a better life
1. Right off, make a decision to improve: Set your intention and commit to doing the work. Nothing worthwhile is achieved without consistent practice ~ if you want to be a better version of your current self, you will need to commit to doing so. No one, no medicine, no miracle can do this for you. Commit.
2. Start small: When you catch yourself overthinking things, first take notice (even this is a move in the right direction), and then list three things you are grateful for. Small things ie I am grateful for my warm bed.
3. Be kind to yourself: When you make a mistake or annoy yourself, don’t speak badly yourself, instead imagine yourself at 6 years old, be gentle, forgiving and kind. Being kind to yourself is a learned practice, you will need to “unlearn” your harsh inner voice.
4. Get into a relationship with yourself: Use the mirror each morning to make eye contact with yourself and really learn to accept yourself as you are. It WILL feel really awkward at first because we have become so separated from ourselves but it all begins with acceptance. This too will have to become a daily practice ~ simply saying hi, I see you and I am here for you, is the start of something wonderful I promise
5. Understand that every challenge is happening FOR you: And not to you. See the difference? In every challenge, there is something for us to personally learn. And to grow from, and if we refuse to do so, another challenge will present itself until we do. Understand this and your life WILL change.
